The Suunto Ambit3 Sport sits right below the Ambit3 Peak. It’s a more affordable version of the Ambit3 Peak but still carries GPS, heart rate monitor and activity tracking.

There’s not much difference between the two models when it comes to look and feel. It is still quite large and bulky especially for people with small wrists. I like the minimalist design of the watch although it’s not the best one out there. Despite of its questionable build quality the watch is still comfortable when worn.

What makes the Ambit3 Sport different from the Ambit3 Peak is that it carries basic general activity tracking. It does have the same sensors as the one from the Peak model but its functions are not as extensive as the Ambit3 Peak. You still get a good amount of information though from your activities though.

Upon testing I find the Ambit3 Sport very useful when it comes to actual exercises. Using it was so easy. All you have to do is hit start, choose the exercise you want, and you are ready to go. The watch allows you to create, modify and save up to 10 activities at any given time. It also allows you to configure to give you the kind of data that you want to see during an activity. Another good thing about the watch is it allows you to switch into another sport or activity even if you are already in your mid-exercise.

The Ambit3 Sport can last for 14 days with general use as claimed by the company. It can last for about 15 hours without turning the GPS off. The watch don’t need to be charged all the time even if you use it for your multi-sport activities.

To Sum It Up

The Suunto Ambit3 Sport is a good example of a GPS and heart rate monitoring sports watch. Performance was pretty much excellent across the board. My only concern about it is its size and shape that many people will end up complaining about it.
