To put it simply, the Polar M600 combines the functionality and features of a smartwatch and a fitness tracker, all in one. This new Android Wear smartwatch tries to bridge the gap between smartwatches and fitness trackers, but can it really meet the expectations set upon its launching? Let’s find out.

The Polar M600 stands as a compelling choice for users who want a smartwatch and a fitness tracker in one. But that is only if you are willing to charge the M600 every night and if you don’t need sleep tracking. Other than that, I’m sure that you will also appreciate the tracking features of this watch since they work very well. The watch features a dedicated tracking button that should make things easier for you. There is also the Polar Flow app which will keep your fitness activities in check and organized.

The M600 is so easy to use especially if you have experience using a fitness tracking watch before. The watch design resembles a lot like the Fitbit Surge with a small square screen. The watch’s band wraps around the wrist snugly.

The watch features two subtle, physical buttons that are so easy to miss if you don’t get a close look at the watch. The front button serves as a shortcut to all of the watch’s fitness activity tracking features and the side button serves as your “home” button. You can also choose to use the Android Wear touchscreen for better convenience especially if you really want things to be quick.

Flip it over and you’ll see a large optical heart rate monitor sitting on the bottom of the watch. The HRM is surrounded by six LEDs which is said to help in producing more accurate readings than the usual dual-LED setup found in other watches.

Key Features

  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • High resolution responsive touchscreen display
  • Android Wear system

  • Excellent waterproofing capabilities.
  • Lightweight design.

  • No sleep tracking.
  • Design and style is not for everyone.
  • Automatic fitness tracking is not available.

Summary

Although Polar markets the M600 as a smartwatch, it doesn’t look like a smartwatch at all. This is where the watch fails to impress most users despite its capabilities. Make no mistake that the M600 does deliver the functionalities and performance of a smartwatch and a fitness tracker in one. What it lacks now is a compelling design and style that will appeal to users.
